"As I said in the last interview, being hosts of this preparatory meeting means that in the concert of the confederated Grand Lodges to the IMC is obvious that the Grand Lodge of Baja California is considered by the Grand Lodges of the World as a mature, serious, recognized and respected Grand Lodge and with the ability and resources to make a success of an event of this nature. We have the ability - as an alternative venue - to prepare and perform in Tijuana (if necessary) the XXII General Assembly of the IMC is scheduled for 2012 in Brazil," stated the Grand Secretary, adding that "Of course for us, this event is not, nor was a test to measure our ability, but rather, an opportunity to show to all high dignitaries attending from over one hundred different Masonic Powers who visited us,our hospitality, appreciation, cuisine, our regional wines, the nobility of our land and our people, plus the ability of planning and of work of the Masonic community led by Grand Master Raul Arturo Gomez Mariscal, within the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Baja California."

Miguel Carreño Bahena, Grand Secretary of Baja California, talks about the preparations and the importance of the inter-American meeting in Tijuana

Worshipful Brother Miguel Carreño Bahena, Grand Secretary and Vice Chancellor of the Grand Lodge of Baja California has granted an interview to APRM (Masonic Press Agency of Romania) where he talks about the preparations and the importance of the event organized on November 17 to 20, in the capital of his state, Baja California. Thanks to his efforts during the next few days we will be passing on the latest news of the most important Masonic meeting of the end of 2011.

After the Grand Lodge Valle de Mexico hosted the General Assembly of the IMC, the Grand Lodge of Baja California is in charge of the preparation of a similar event, preliminary for the General Assembly to be held in Brasilia. What gives particular importance to this event for Baja California?

The particular importance for our M.W.G.L. "Baja California" is the symbolism that tells all Freemasons of Baja California the "importance" of belonging to a regular and recognized Masonic body, because by being hosts of this preparatory meeting of the IMC is only an indication of what means to be reliable, regular, recognized, and what means the legality and certainty of the origin given to our M.W.G.L. "Baja California" by the World Grand Lodges confederated in organisms such as the Confederation of Regular Grand Lodges of the United Mexican States, the Masonic Interamerican Confederation, the World Conference of Regular Grand Lodges and other groups that bring together the Regular Grand Lodges of Europe, Asia and Africa.

This event is the most important Masonic event worldwide at the end of this year. Latin America, the U.S., England and France will be present. The topics to be discussed are current. All the debates promise to have a truly universal meaning?

All topics to be presented and discussed in the workshops and speeches are universal issues that aim to seek the one and only benefit of mankind. These issues, although they are current issues, are the same issues for which Freemasonry has struggled for many centuries. Justice and social security for example, are proposals that Freemasonry has always tried to bring to all societies to which we have contributed with our efforts and rationale way of living; democratic development and social progress go hand in hand with Freemasonry and they are elements highly necessary in the daily life of all nations, not to mention the existence of a secular state where states can govern themselves without interference of any kind of ecclesiastical ideology or agenda, whatsoever of the religious current. The secular state even though accepts and tolerates religious freedom does not need the help of God.

Was it a great effort for the Grand Lodge to organize this big and important event? Baja California's public institutions understand the importance of this event as one of international interest?

Every important event of this nature requires an equal important effort. The Masonic community of Baja California led by MWGM Raul Arturo Gomez Mariscal is prepared to organize such events, since Freemasonry itself is preparing the freethinking man to be ready to perform the functions required at the indicated time and place. Both public institutions and the different authorities of the State and Municipal Governments, as well as military authorities understand the importance of this event and will be with us in various activities where we have invited them requiring their presence.

What means for the Grand Lodge of Baja California the opportunity to be the organizer of one of the most important Masonic events at international level?

The ultimate meaning of this opportunity to organize this great event, is none other but the fact that the Grand Lodge of the State "BAJA CALIFORNIA" of AA.'. FF.'. AA.'. MM.'. is a mature Masonic institution, capable and experienced to organize this and any other event prompted. It means that through successful, fair and serene leadership of Grand Masters such as Most Worshipful Brother Raul Arturo Gomez Mariscal, current Grand Master of the Masonic community of Baja California and as Worshipful Brother Franco Magdaleno Soto, Immediate Past Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the state, regular Freemasons of this jurisdiction have been able to store and manage inherent Masonic precepts of a regular and confederated Grand Lodge defending their honor, their history, their lineage, their territory, their rights and even their very existence to the whole world and to all men.
